Grades for the first trimester officially close on December 5th, but for most subjects I will be closing grades on Friday. The exception is books for the Million Word Challenge. I will give students until Tuesday to pass in any cards for books that they have read. The expectation is 9 books this trimester. Please check in with your child to make sure they are on track.
We are working on multiplying fractions in math. Many students still struggle with multiplication facts and this makes math very difficult for them. PLEASE practice multiplication facts with your child for a few minutes every night if they do not have them mastered. Even students who have them mastered should practice at least once a week to make sure they don't forget!
We have added a word of the day segment to our morning work. I-Ready testing found most students severely lacking in vocabulary skills. Our words for this week are: absurd, frigid, reassure, abuse, gorge.
We are still missing a few states for our postcard challenge. States we do not have are: Alaska, Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Vermont, and Washington.
